Article Parts

Welcome to the Slave Labor Project. Before you can get started you must become familiar with your two countries. Thus, it is important that you take the steps to finish your preliminary assignment.

PART ONE:

  • For this part you are writing TWO ARTICLES. Each article will be an, "Expose". For this section you must concentrate on one element of injustice for each of your countries. In writing an expose you must have PICTURES that allow readers to follow your article. For this section you are NOT to have opinion. You are presenting facts in a dramatic manner to draw the readers attention. This section must educate readers and evoke their fury and curiosity in relation to the injustice that pervades in your country.
  • Example: Brothel House, Slave Trade Ring etc

PART TWO:

  • Part two is a single paper that connects popular forms of modern slavery to your countries of choice. You are to read the five stories of slavery presented in the "Time Magazine" website. Upon reading those articles it is important that you take notes and understand the similarities and differences of the forms of slavery. In your paper you are to compare and contrast the five stories and draw connections to your particular country. Which stories apply to your country and why? (YOU MUST BACK YOUR CLAIMS WITH EVIDENCE) .
  • After comparing the articles and relating the relevant ones to both of your countries you will research possible resolutions, or lack their of on behalf of your countries. What steps are your countries taking to prevent the particular form of slavery that applied? Is their a lack of progress? If so, why aren't steps being taken to address the pressing issues?

PART THREE:

  • For this section the goal of the writer is to write an article that brings to light all of the societal aspects that influence the progression of injustice in your country. As an editorial writer you are sparking debate and setting the foundation for controversy. Let your voice be heard. Attack the injustice that plagues your countries and in doing so bring to light the social norms that are causing these dilemmas to take place. As an editorial writer you MUST HAVE EVIDENCE.

GOOD LUCK!
