Begin with the End in Mind:
The End in Mind---The ultimate purpose of this project is to have the class self produce a newscast to be broadcasted.

The ideas are:
1.News gathering and determining what is news, interviewing tactics
2.Writing news objectively and producing a cast (show)
3.Understanding the basic control room production of a newscast
4.Broadcasting media--

How does news become News?

The sub-questions:
1. How does news media affect you?
2. Who do you think decides what is “air worthy”?
3. Can news be light, but also meaningful?
4. What types of communication can help those in the news business?
5. Is it important to order a newscast a certain way?
6. What are some of the differences between TV and radio broadcast?
7. Have you ever misunderstood a part of the news and what do you think caused that?
8. How might you write a news story?
9. Who works in the news business?
10. What do you think are some of the basics involved with new productions?

NEWS STORY POST CARD

Mid- News Story ScriptStandards-2,3
Skill- Group work and research and development- Do 3 interviews (video taped) / Self-evaluation will determine the grade./ - Write a news story based around the interviews / Simple look over from the instructor will give the green light for all actives after this./
End- Broadcasting News StoriesStandards-4,5,6
Skill- Knowledge and skill of editing, presentation-Produce a news story incorporating elements from interviews and group shot video “B-Roll”. / The news stories will be graded against a rubric developed from the standards of broadcast journalism today. Another form of the grade will come from a group participation form./

Map the Project:
Post Card Video- Choose a favorite activity and research it.
News Story Script- Do 3 interviews (video taped) - Write a news story based around the interviews
Broadcasting News Stories-Produce a news story incorporating elements from interviews and group shot video “B-Roll”. ----------
